The EWSI Professional Certification Program Defense 2025

Meet The Next Generation of EWSI Experts in Action

The Environmental and Water Sanatory Inspector (EWSI) International Certification is a 2 months flagship training program that is organized every year by EKCOLAB Organization. This year’s program 2025, brought about youths, community and professionals in water and environment from over 15 countries from Africa and beyond (Including Indonesia and Pakistan). The program offers scholarship for selected applicants by equipping them with first-hand practical knowledge in tackling water and environmental problems in their communities. This year, 40 participants where offered scholarship to study and get certified to operate in solving real world problems in their communities. The 5 courses in the training were in-depth followed by real world use of our analytical tool EKCOLAB Analytics to help them identify and report their community problems in real-time. After studying each course, the students were given quiz to test their knowledge.

This year we offered 2 types of certification: 1) Certified EWSI Professional (given to those who passed all the quizzes of the courses and carried out field work but didn’t defend their projects) and 2) Certified Advanced EWSI Professional (given to those who passed all the quizzes of the courses, carried out fieldwork and defended their research project).

Out of all the students enrolled, 5 decided to defend their projects Infront of our highly esteemed defense council which included Dr. Nilam Sari (Sustainability and Climate Policy Expert), Amir Hassan (Research Director of EKCOLAB) and Solape Adeyemi (Sustainability and Water Quality Expert). The defense took place on the 10th of November, 2025. To watch the full video of the defense on our YouTube Channel, click here. The following students defended their research work:

  1. Chintsa Zapgue Lucile Kendra (Project Title: Environmental and Water Sanitation Assessment in the THE Dagibert Community, Yaounde Using EKCOLAB Analytics)
  2. Michael Nyame Acquah (Project Title:Assessment of Water, Sanitation, and Environmental Health Risks in Adubenso Besease Community, Ghana)
  3. Zekeyo Julius Tchuenkam (Project Title: Assessment of Poor Waste Disposal Practices and Thier Impact on Water Quality and Community Health-Ndongo Community)
  4. Kidega Fred Opiyo (Project Title: WASH Analysis in Anaka Town)
  5. Umaru Yusuf Magaji (Project Title: Environmental and Water Sanitation Assessment in the Premiere Maison Quarter, Nkolmbong Community, Yaounde Using EKCOLAB Analytics)

All students who completed the training requirements, were given the EWSI certificate. Our graduates over the years from 2021 to this year have reportedly used our certification to advance their career, by tackling their local communities water and environmental problems, some got new jobs, and scholarships to study abroad.

The trainees mastered valuable skill such as environmental field techniques (Evaluate problems to real solutions-community water point mapping to sanitation safety plans—that you can adapt and scale), data acquisition and analysis, water treatment approaches, disease outbreak and management, WHO standards and digital tools like EKCOLAB Analytics for community monitoring and support.

We want to say a big congratulations to all our wonderful graduates this year. We wish you all wonderful achievements ahead and a fruitful collaborations in the future to work with us in our projects.
